Da Hong Pao Oolong tea has a mild, smoky fragrance and only develops its aroma after brewing. It tastes floral and surprises with a taste of fresh minerals. Its color is golden brown. Its infusion time at a water temperature of 100° Celsius is 1 to 3 minutes (4 grams for 300ml), whereby it is recommended not to hold the first infusion for more than a few seconds and to pour it away. This is how the tea is prepared according to traditional Chinese custom.
