Kinto Kyusu Teapot (white)

This white Kyusu teapot is from the "Leaves to Tea" series by the Japanese manufacturer Kinto. This pot holds 300 ml of tea and contains an integrated tea strainer in front of the infuser, which makes it easy to prepare several infusions.

The Kyusu is the traditional Japanese teapot used for preparing Japanese green teas, for example in the Japanese tea ceremony. The kyusu (急須, earthen teapot) can be recognised by its iconic shape, it has a handle that protrudes from the side. This kyusu is traditionally made of clay, a typical material for the volcanic islands of Japan. The material enhances the taste of tea because of its mineral composition. The inside of the pot is uncoated to create a patina that enhances the taste of the tea. Therefore, it should never be rinsed with detergent, but only with hot water.
