Pi Lo Chun is a speciality from the Suzhou region in Yunnan, the most southeastern province of China. Its characteristic feature is the wiry, long leaf, which is slightly twisted into a spiral shape. This shape gives the tea its name, Pi Lo Chun (depending on the translation also Bi Lou Chun), and means something like "spring snail". The Chinese Emperor Quianlong (1736 - 1796) gave this tea its somewhat poetic name after falling in love with the delicate taste of Pi Lo Chun.
