Gyokuro translates as "jade drop" and is the most noble tea variety from Japan. To produce it, the tea bushes are covered (shaded) with bamboo mats for a fortnight before harvesting. The resulting reduced photosynthesis ensures a unique aroma. Only the tenderest, freshest tea leaves from the first days of spring are used for our Japan Gyokuru Asahi.
